Forensic Microscopy

Objectives:

  • Conduct an investigation using microscopic pollen grains as evidence.
  • Identify (using a key) the source plant types of pollen.
  • Explain how pollen evidence from various portions of a decedent’s digestive tract can be used to place that person geographically over the time leading up to death.
  • Describe how the structure of different plants’ pollen supports the method of pollination of those plants.
